Acting on information gathered, combined forces comprising of EMPD, SAPS and
Provincial Police, were able to arrest three suspects and recover two
unlicenced firearms in the early hours of Friday morning in Alexander
township.

"The police established that the trio were prime suspects in recent  ATM
bombings in Katlehong and Tlhabane in Rustenburg. One of the two firearms
found in their possession is a police issue firearm, a Z88 9mm pistol", EMPD
Spokesperson, Wilfred Kgasago said.  "Law enforcement agencies will not
relent in their efforts to round-up those responsible for ATM bombings as
invariably police as well as innocent members of the public become
casualties in such episodes", Kgasago added.

The three male suspects, whose ages range between 35 and 38yrs, were charged
with possession of unlicenced firearms and ammunitions at the Alexander
police station. They will appear in court soon.
